Did you have one of these as a kid?
I remember that me and my sister had one. My mum made it out of old sheets I think. Florals, Purples and Oranges – the best 70′s stuff you could imagine. I loved playing in it. It is one of the few memories I have of playing in our old house.
I made my little girl one for christmas. I tried to use the same types of fabric doors and windows with ribbon ties that I remember from mine.

This one has a pretty flash door though.
We don’t actually eat off the dining table but my husband uses it as his desk (with his laptop). So I had to add a large door on that end so that when we are lazy and don’t pack it away he can still sit at the table.
I only used fabric from my stash for this project too. I used an old stained table cloth that had a few holes (hence the patch) for the top. And some sheeting that I fell out of love with for the sides.
I don’t think it would have the same feel if it all matched, or even if I went to buy fabric for it. I really do think that this project has to be made from thrifted finds and leftovers.
So another handmade Christmas gift done. I am very pleased with myself.
I hope it makes up for my spurgling on some beautiful aunty cookie butterfly fabric.

I am sure it does.

What a great idea Donna. I love the door!

Absolutely brilliant. It’s fantastic!
Hi, I love this….it reminds me of something my lovely (since departed) Nanna made for us as kids. Have you thought of making any to sell? I would be interested, I have two girls who I’d love to spoil. K
