My little girl has a thing for dresses at the moment. She basically has to wear one every day. Scouring etsy for some suitable patterns I came across a home grown (aussie) designer Toni and make it perfect patterns. Here is her etsy store and her blog.
I bought the pinny and fancy pants patterns.
I have already made a pinny out of some cotton scraps and it is a hit. She asks to wear “the dress you made me” often. I am not a big fan of the colours on her but have big plans to make a few more.

This one is a size 4 thinking that I needed it to be bigger to fit over jumpers and jeans but I think that a size 3 would have been fine.

The pattern is well written and easy to make. It is designed to use cotton quilting fabrics. The smaller sizes (<3) could easily be made from fat quarters.
Have you come across any other good little dress patterns?
I have seen some great Japanese craft books on other blogs that had lots of girls dresses but will have to some more research.
