I bought the taupe. I bought a little of the cream. I thought the cream looked better. But I wasn’t really happy with either because I wanted to buy linen.
Now I have finished the blocks I have to make a decision. Here they are all laid out on the taupe.

I asked for help and got even votes. Which would mean I would have to make a decision. I hate making decisions, I am a typical libra. Now critical decisions like for work, not a problem. But when it comes to something which really, when looking at the big picture – make no difference what-so-ever, then that is my downfall
The taupe or go buy more cream …..

So I ordered some totally different fabric. Some linen/cotton from lincraft online. I picked a colour called flax. I didn’t want white; cream would be too yellow; wheat would be too brown and beige just didn’t do it for me. Flax seemed like a good compromise.
It turned up yesterday and I think it is ok. Here is a picture of all three (cream, flax, taupe) on a white cabinet.

It is browner than the cream and lighter than the taupe and it has a lovely texture. I think I will probably use this for my sashing and keep the taupe for a another project. Maybe.

Coming out of lurkdom here. I’ve been following the QAL and am very anxious to get started and participate. I think the flax is an excellent choice and it really makes your blocks POP.
Best of luck to you.
Really love the texture of the flax. I know you are busy enough, but if you could just lay out all your blocks on the flax for me…..
I think the flax is an awesome, inspired and fantastic choice. Less dulling than the taupe, more interesting than the cream. Well done.
Love the flax. Nice choice!
ETA to my previous post – well done because you have created a whole different dynamic with the fabric without actually compromising one look over another. You created a third choice entirely, not just a half way point between your other two choices. Very clever.
I like the flax for the texture… I still like the taupe as well.
I do like the flax texture. But I LOVE the taupe. I think it’s somehow unique, I see a lot on texture, a lot on cream… Not so much on taupe. And it just looks so rich. As a matter of fact I think I’m going to get some taupe for my own bedroom quilt.
I like the Taupe, such a great colour!
yes the flax looks perfect!
