I finished my Oh Fransson Mod Sampler as part of the quilt along.

I love the way it has turned out.

The linen/cotton sashing was something new for me. It was a little more difficult to sew as it can loose its shape quite easily. And it was a night mare to unpick if I made a mistake. I did make an error when putting the blocks together but it is no big deal so I left it.
This quilt does mean a lot to me. It kind of signifies my blog and the online community (with it being part of a quilt along). It is also special because it uses my first lot of “designer” fabrics and of course all of this reminds me of my mate Sheridan. Who by the way if anything happens to me has already requested that this quilt be left to her – oh and she wants my overlocker too.
There was no way that was going to try and quilt this myself. So I sent it down to Kim Bradley in Sydney to get it quilted.
I am going to keep practicing my free motion quilting and have even got myself into a workshop with Kim in early may. I have another quilt that I am willing to learn on, but not this one.
I went for something a little different. I choose a square continuous quilting design, where the lines cross (OMG!!). Kind of a tribute to Elizabeth and bah to all of those that have given her a hard time about her quilting techniques.

I also wanted to say thankyou to Elizabeth for creating this sampler quilt pattern and providing some great instructions. You have really helped me become more comfortable with my quilting and inspried me to try something new.

This really is spectacular. You have done such a great job. Those fabrics must be so pleased they ended up in your stash and weren’t left on the shelf. Well done
I love it, it looks great!!!!
Oh it’s good that you put that in writing. You know, the bequeathing bit. In case it goes to court and stuff.
It looks absolutely gorgeous! Like Susie, I think it’s great that you actually used your favourites and now you can enjoy them instead of keeping them hidden away.
Your choice of quilting pattern is so perfect! Will try and get Kim to do mine as well.
Oh, and also……I recently used a linen/cotton blend as sashing on a quilt, and the machine quilting shows up much more prominently because of the bigger weave. It looks superb. Up until then I wasn’t sure about bothering with it, but I am now convinced. Hope you’re happy with yours too.
Well done.
Your mod quilt looks great – thinking that it might be the perfect one for me to start with – thanks for the frank comments and great blog.
Wow, great work, it looks fantastic!!
I would love to see your friends fruit sticker collection, I’m definitely going to have to start a Where’s Wally’s – fruit stickers flickr group : )
xx
Just wanted to leave another comment so I could see three Angela’s in a row in your comments
