my running gear – running with ID

Posted on

Both hubby and I don’t carry anything with us when we run.  We don’t take our wallets or our phones – if something should happen to us – we have no ID.  This has always been a nagging concern of mine..

While we were on holidays I made sure that we ran with at least our phones.  Mainly for a little reassurance if we got lost or needed to be contacted.  I bought spi belt from rebel sport for us.  About $25.

It easily fits a phone and a set of keys.  The pouch is made from a lycra type fabric and it sits tight against your body so it doesn’t bounce.  The adjustable belt is a thick elastic so it is very comfortable.

But I didn’t want to have to wear this all the time.  Through a a little more research I came across the company Road ID.  They make ID products designed for sporty people.

I ordered an ID bracelet  for both of us and I am very impressed with them.

My bracelet consists of an engraved tag and a wrist band.  You can choose from quite a few colours (mine is pink) but it will also fit on any standard wristband.

Hubbys is wider and sits on a rubber bracelet that has a clasp similar to a watch band.

And CHEAP too.  Mine was $16 and his was $30.  Postage was a measly $2.95 form the US and was surprisingly quick.

We both try to be very careful when we run but some motorists are not as attentive as us.  Just yesterday jogging on the footpath two cars backed out of their driveways in front of me. I saw one and luckily the other one saw me.

I have just ordered two bands for the kids too and am waiting for them to arrive.  I put their names, ages and our contact numbers.  We have just bought season tickets to “the worlds” and it will give me a little more peace of mind if they are wearing them and they get separated form us.

Anyway, ROAD ID have offered a discount of $1 off each order for my friends (the first 20 anyway). You can use this link or coupon code ThanksDonna9085743.  Offer expires 6 Nov 11.

  1. great idea – I’ll be doing that for the three of us. A nagging concern of mine too – especially for the little boy. Really great to have a little device I can slip on his wrist when he might be at risk. I’ll sleep better.

  2. Just ordering now for all of us!

And I like the shoe pouch thing…I was wondering about running while I am in California. So much better, and safer, if I will have some ID on me, and I can carry a hotel key with me.

    Great post, thanks so much!

  3. I might order one of those for my mum. She is losing her eyesight but loves going on a walk every day. She takes her passport with her as ID but that isn’t really much help if someone needed to contact us. Geat idea
