I got up early another day last week and did some sewing that I needed to catch up on.
As I have mentioned before I am finding it difficult to make time for me to sew and craft when I am putting so much emphasis on my exercise.
I adjusted a few skirts that were a bit roomy around the waist or needed the hems taken up. They were nice over my winter boots but need to be shorter to look good with some sandals.
And this dress is now a skirt.
Teamed with a $6 K-mart crew neck shirt it is a lot more wearable. I never really liked that dress.
(BTW – love my mummy dummy, no need to get all dressed up anymore to show you photos!!)
I also made a kimono dress by pattern runway. It is a very simple pattern with few pieces. It is a download printable pattern. I made the error of not checking the scale when printing. I made a M (medium) muslin and it was quite small. When I reprinted the pattern the M I had made was actually an XS (extra small).
The neckline and sleeves are faced and designed well. I think it took me about 3 hours (uninterrupted) to make.
I made it from some charcoal crepe de chin that I bought on eBAy. I bought that fabric because it was what was on the pattern cover and I wanted one the same.
The facing around the arms need tacking down in a few more places. But they do stick up and out like that on me too. I guess it makes it a little more interesting than saggy sleeves.
Already I have worn this dress twice. I dressed it up with some really simple turquoise earrings and bracelet and wore it to Kindy graduation.
Then again to breakfast with Susie after a 10km run.
I can see me making a few more of these. Would love to do one in a voile border print and another sheer one to go over swimmers.

Love the dress! I have had this pinned for awhile and you have convinced me to buy the pattern and make it.
I love that dresss, I could be convinced to give it a go too. Donna, did you happen to be at Carindale on Friday? I am pretty sure I saw you walk into Diva….I’m not a stalker, just recognised you from your blog….ps. you are looking fantastic.
I love the kimono dress! And all your skirts. The mummy dummy’s a great idea, but I do prefer to see you modelling them, gives a much better idea of how they look.
